DR. Derar hasan bala'wi

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Jordan, a Master’s degree in Healthcare Marketing Management from the University of Huddersfield (UK), two Postgraduate Diplomas in Infection Prevention & Control (the American Institute of Healthcare and Hospital Management - AIHC, and IMETS Academy); PhD in Clinical Pharmacotherapy from the Faculty of Medical & Human Sciences at the University of Manchester (UK), and the American Board in Infection Control & Prevention (CIC) and American Board in Long-Term Care Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP). He completed his clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Royal Salford Hospital (UK) in 2010-2011, and advanced courses in the same specialty from Stanford University (USA) in 2014.

 

He worked as a medical advisor with international pharmaceutical companies, an academic advisor to several universities and educational consultancy companies, a clinical lecturer at several British universities, and currently as a professor and clinical practitioner at the University of Petra and its teaching hospitals. He has a long experience in crises management during the epidemics of SARS, H1N1 and H5N1, in cooperation with the ministries of health and various health institutions in the Arab world and abroad.

 

Since the beginning of the new COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Bal’awi has given several lectures to doctors, pharmacists and citizens in different countries about the pandemic, and updated therapeutic protocols for the disease. Dr. Bal’awi has appeared in more than 1000 interviews and documentaries on local, regional and international satellite channels so far, and his efforts culminated in winning the “Model Father 2020” Award from the United Nations (UNARTS), and the “Peace Knight” Award from the Knights of Peace Foundation for the efforts made to combat COVID-19 and raise awareness of the society. He has recently won the finalist place in the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Award (Jordan) three times in a row (2021/2022; 2022/2023; 2023/2024). He was selected as a “Global Finalist” in the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Award in 2023. He won the “Distinguished Researcher Award” from the University of Petra in 2022/2023. He was the only academic who won three awards at the University of Petra’s Conference for Creativity, Invention and Scientific Research, held on 24 May 2022. He also won the “Outstanding Alumni Award” from the University of Manchester in 2023. He recently received the “Distinguished Scientist Award” from the Ministry of Youth, Culture & Communication and ICESCO in Morocco in 2023.

In October 2022, Derar was ranked among the top 2% researchers in Stanford AD Scientific Index 2022 in the last 5 years, based on H index, i10 and citations, among the clinical pharmacotherapy and

psychiatry research domains. Dr. Bal’awi has more than 50 research papers in international refereed journals and more than 100 medical articles; his research interest lies in the field of patient safety, medication errors, pharmacovigilance and infectious diseases.

PH. lina m. yahya

Lina M. Yahya, born in 1992, in Iraq and currently residing in Jordan, is an accomplished pharmacist and healthcare entrepreneur. With a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from Applied Science University in Jordan, Lina has amassed over six years of experience, showcasing expertise in medication safety, project management, and business development.

 

At the forefront of her professional journey is Lina's role as the Founder and CEO of "Awareness of Medication Errors," a non-profit organization established in 2019. Through this initiative, Lina passionately advocates for safe medication practices, pioneering innovative solutions and earning recognition, including a prestigious speaking opportunity at TEDx Baghdad in 2021.

 

Lina's commitment to advancing healthcare extends to her recognition by the World Health Organization (WHO), holding a license in operational planning. This acknowledgment underscores her dedication to staying at the forefront of global health initiatives.

 

Beyond her impactful contributions in the pharmaceutical realm, Lina actively engages in the NGO sector, driven by a resolute commitment to making a positive impact. Her multifaceted career spans voluntary initiatives, awareness programs on prominent platforms, and participation in significant events such as the UNRWA Health Department's Prequalification of Vendors and Drug Registration in 2015.

 

With a visionary approach to healthcare challenges, a commitment to community well-being, and an entrepreneurial spirit evident in her leadership at "Awareness of Medication Errors," Lina M. Yahya continues to leave an indelible mark on the healthcare landscape.

pharm.d. Ranad mustafa

Dr. Rand Mustafa is a dedicated Doctor of Pharmacy with a profound commitment to 

promoting safe and effective medication practices within our communities. With over five years of experience in the pharmaceutical field, Dr. Rand Mustafa has served as a responsible pharmacist in community pharmacies, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of healthcare delivery.

 

For the past three years, Dr. Rand Mustafa has held the esteemed position of Health Education Coordinator at [Awareness Of Medication Errors non-profit local organisation], a pivotal role within an organization committed to raising awareness of medication errors. In this capacity, Dr. Mustafa has been instrumental in the conception and execution of health education programs designed to empower individuals with the knowledge necessary for navigating their healthcare journeys confidently.

 

Dr. Ranad Mustafa finds profound fulfilment in contributing to the well-being of the community by actively promoting safe medication practices. The commitment to education and advocacy underscores Dr. Mustafa's belief in the transformative power of knowledge in creating healthier societies.

Pharm.d. Renad alzaghoul

Renad Alzghoul is a dedicated professional deeply engaged in the healthcare sector, currently pursuing a master's degree in Health Information Technology at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT). Her commitment to healthcare extends beyond academia as she serves as a health educator specializing in medication safety for the past two years at Awareness of Medication Errors, a prominent non-profit local NGO.

 

Renad earned her bachelor's degree in Doctor of Pharmacy from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 2019. Building on her academic foundation, she ventured into the professional realm, working as a part-time pharmacist and researcher. Her experiences in these roles have equipped her with valuable insights into the intricate dynamics of healthcare delivery.

 

Renad is actively involved in several esteemed organizations that reflect her commitment to the advancement of healthcare practices. She contributes to the Scientific Committee at Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPA), collaborates with the Journal Club working team at IVPN-Journal Club Listserv, and participates in the initiatives of the Health Development Association (eHDA). Additionally, she is a proud member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

 

In her role as a health educator at Awareness of Medication Errors, Renad actively contributes to the NGO's mission of raising awareness about safe medication practices. Her multifaceted engagement in academia, research, and NGO work underscores Renad's dedication to fostering positive change in healthcare, making her a valuable asset to the sector.

Pharm.d. Hussam Alsalamat

Dr. Husam ALSalamat holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Pharmacy. He is a consultant executive trainer specializing in Data Management for Decision Making and serves as an educator in clinical practice across various academic institutions. With a robust background in research, Dr. ALSalamat has numerous published works in the fields of molecular oncology, health education, and public health.

Certified as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS), Dr. ALSalamat is actively involved in professional organizations. He currently chairs the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) committee at the Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPA) and holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP). Additionally, he is a dedicated member and country representative at the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) and serves as an ambassador of Jordan at IVPN-Network. Dr. ALSalamat also contributes as an organizing member at IVPN-NeuroPsychiatry.

In addition to his diverse roles, Dr. ALSalamat is actively engaged in projects related to medication safety. His expertise and dedication extend to ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical practices, making valuable contributions to the advancement of medication safety initiatives. His extensive network further includes memberships in prominent international organizations such as the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), highlighting his commitment to advancing pharmaceutical and healthcare practices on a global scale.

Dr. sana'a al shakhshir

I am a dedicated graduate of Mansoura University, Egypt, with a professional journey that traverses the critical landscape of healthcare, education, and advocacy, with a distinct focus on enhancing medication safety. Rooted in the healthcare sector, I made substantial contributions to the University of Jordan Hospital and the Ministry of Health, specializing in the oversight and inspection of medical and healthcare institutions. My early career also featured hands-on experience in a community pharmacy, fostering a keen understanding of the importance of medication safety at the grassroots level.

Venturing into education, I assumed the role of Teaching Assistant at Al-Zaytoonah University and the Private University of Applied Sciences. This academic pursuit laid the foundation for my subsequent roles as a consultant and expert with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), where I further championed the cause of medication safety.

My commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond professional endeavors into volunteer roles. Currently, I actively contribute as an administrative member of the Health Coalition for Patient Protection, aligning with my dedication to advancing medication safety in healthcare settings. Additionally, my engagement history includes participation in the University Anti-Smoking and Anti-Tobacco Coalition, highlighting my holistic approach to healthcare advocacy.

Within the healthcare community, I hold the prestigious position of Chair of the Scientific Committee at the Pharmacists' Syndicate, building on my background in medication safety and clinical expertise. Past service as a council member underscores my enduring commitment to promoting safe and effective medication practices. I extend my impact to organizations such as the Palliative Care Association, the Jordanian Quality Association, and the Aybala Charitable Association, where I actively contribute to the Health and Public Relations Committee.

In essence, my biography serves as a testament to my unwavering dedication to healthcare, education, and community service, with a particular emphasis on the continual improvement of medication safety practices throughout my evolving journey.
